Sweets at the right point!
Nectarine peaches, or more precisely nectarine peaches, are sweet and fleshy fruits – drupes – produced by a particular botanical variety of peach.
As a modest nutritional source of pro-vitamin A – retinol equivalents – and vitamin C – ascorbic acid, nectarines could be included in both the VI and VII fundamental food groups. They also have a moderate caloric intake provided mainly by soluble sugars – fructose – they contain dietary fiber, are rich in water and minerals – especially potassium.
Given their sweet and sugary flavor, nectarines are perfect ingredients for the preparation of exquisite desserts, such as cakes and spoon desserts. Like most fruit, they can be enjoyed plain, with or without peel, or processed to create delicious juices, jams and yogurts.
